The Sin Sombrero

As we already know, the hat is part of us, since it was designed it has accompanied us every day until today and that is why there have also been historical facts related to it and our rights.

The history of the Hatless begins in Spain, when between the years of 1890-1910 a group of women artists were born who in the future were going to revolutionize history to vindicate the non-recognition of their talent and lack of understanding in society.

One day, in the 1920s, a group of women poets, writers, painters, philosophers, decided to make a harmless gesture in Puerta del Sol, Madrid, along with other artists such as Federico García Lorca and Salvador Dalí who supported the cause. The purpose of the event was to vindicate the intellectual role in a conservative society of the time and the inequality of recognition of works due to being a woman. To receive the necessary attention they decided to take off their hat in the middle of Puerta del Sol. As expected, they received bad comments since at that time wearing a hat on the street was courtesy and respect.

This act caused a stir and with the possible Republic the intellectuals saw a prosperous change to a more liberal society but as is already known in 1935 with the civil war and seeing that the republicans were falling little by little it caused the exile of a significant number of Spaniards, the vast majority intellectuals. Although these artists had to help each other, they never stopped fighting for their ideals and creating new works.
